Jürgen Nitsch Prize for Theory Development goes to Dennis Dreiskämper
PD Dr Dennis Dreiskämper, Department of Sport Psychology, has been awarded the "Jürgen Nitsch Prize for Theory Development in Sport Psychology" by the Sports Psychology Section of the German Psychological Society (DGPS).
The "Jürgen Nitsch Prize" is awarded every two years by the Sports Psychology Section. The prize is intended in particular to recognise contributions to theoretical development in the field of sport psychology. It is endowed with prize money of €500 and was presented at the annual conference of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Sportpsychologie on 9 May 2024 in Berlin. In his keynote speech, the award winner presented the research on his habilitation topic "The physical self-concept in early to late childhood (4-12 years) and its significance for motor and healthy development". In doing so, he placed research in this area within the principles of theory formation and development, for which he drew on the findings and considerations of the award's namesake, Prof Dr Jürgen Nitsch (DSHS Cologne).
