How to apply

Once you are enrolled in one of the participating MSc programs at the University of Münster (MSc Biosciences, MSc Biotechnology or MSc Molecular Biomedicine), you can apply for the SãMBio double degree program. To do so, you need to send your application documents as one pdf file (LastName_ApplicationSaMBio) to sambio@uni-muenster.de by the deadline.

  • Application Documents

    The following documents are needed to realize an application for the SãMBio double degree program:

    • curriculum vitae
    • letter of motivation
    • English language certificate with level B2 or higher
      (e.g. high school diploma, TOEFL, DAAD language certificate, etc.)
    • BSc certificate
      (if not yet available: preliminary BSc transcript)  
    • current MSc enrollment certificate
      (if not yet available: Letter of admission or signed application for enrollment)


    It is important to note that the letter of motivation has a great impact on the success of the application. We therefore recommend that you answer the following guiding questions on approximately one page.

    • Why are you applying to the dual degree program?
    • Why do you think you are a good fit for this program?
    • How would you benefit both academically and personally from the program?

    The exact deadlines will be published here as soon as they are known.

  • Selection Criteria

    The following criteria have an influence on your application for the SãMBio double degree program:

    • BSc grade
    • academic background and scientific achievements
    • previous international experience through work or study abroad
    • extra-university commitment
    • presentation of motivation for SãMBio participation in the letter of motivation and in the selection interview
    • quality of English language skills
    • Portuguese language skills are an advantage, but not mandatory
