MExLab Physics - Münster's experimental physics laboratory

There are programmes for schoolgirls and schoolboys in MExLab Physics [de] all year round. Whether as part of school visits, during the holidays in the holiday programmes or on private occasions, there is always something going on in MExLab Physics.

Die Mädchen-Workshop-Reihe Girls4Future findet zum ersten Mal digital statt!

28.05.2021 | 14:00 – 18:00 Uhr

Girls4Future - New workshops for girls!

In autumn, our new project G4F will start in MExLab Physics with exciting workshops for girls from grade 7.

Are you interested in physics or technology and sustainability? Would you like to know what they have to do with each other? Then you've come to the right place!

In a series of new workshops, we will explore exciting topics such as photovoltaics, wind energy or water protection, experimenting, programming and designing objects with a 3D printer. We will also learn about different professions such as scientist or precision engineer and talk to women who have chosen these professions for themselves.

The first workshop on solar energy took place in the autumn holidays 2020 and was great fun for us and the participants.

We conducted exciting experiments on photovoltaics, namely programming the alignment of a solar cell with the path of the sun and building our own solar sunflower, which the participants could take home afterwards. In addition, the participants met a scientist who conducts research on photovoltaics and reported on her professional career and activities.

Have we made you curious?

Then sign up for one of the next workshops on wind energy and 3D printing or water analysis! You can find more detailed information about the dates on the MExLab Physics website [de].

We are looking forward to exciting and varied workshops!

Every year in autumn, young scientists from the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Department of Physics organise the Astro Seminar. Over two days, everything revolves around astrophysics, astronomy, cosmology and related sciences.
Pupils who are interested in physics are cordially invited to take part in the free event. Previous knowledge is not required. Registration is possible via the Astroseminar page [de].

Institute and lecture visits

You are cordially invited to visit the institutes or laboratories of the Department of Physics with your school class or course and find out about the research carried out there. Of course, you can also attend a lecture at the same time to get an insight into the everyday life of a student. The lectures Physics 1 and 2 as well as Physics for Natural Scientists are ideal for this. Further information about studying is provided here. Information about the dates and other lectures can be found in the current course catalogue.
If you have any questions, please contact  Physikstudium@uni-muenster.de, we will be happy to help you with the organisation.

Girls'Day

Every year in April, the nationwide Girls'Day takes place. For more than 10 years, the physics department has been offering interested schoolgirls an insight into the professional world of a physicist on this day. You can find more information on the MExLab Physics website [de].
