Surface acoustic waves (SAWs) or phonons in general are universal transducers. They couple to any system – either classical or quantum – a unique property which we exploit in this research area.
We heterogeneously integrate functional materials and devices on piezoelectric SAW-chips to synergistically use complementary strengths to unravel fundamental scientific questions or apply the arising new functionalities in devices.
In the moment we are working on SAW-controlled charge carrier dynamics in two-dimensional materials, nanoscale semiconducting perovskites, epitaxial semiconductor nanowires or integrated magneto-phononic circuits.
