Here is a compact overview of Module 1 and Module 2. For more detailed information, please refer to the module descriptions.

Participants can choose from different courses (listed in HISLSF) that are open to the certificate “North American Studies”. In total, three seminars are mandatory, covering at least two different disciplines. One of the three seminars needs to be completed with a research paper (3.500 –5.000 words).

 

MODULE 2

Students choose a minimum of three thematic (transdisciplinary) clusters (two, if study abroad is one of them) to achieve a total of 15 LP for Module 2.

*PORTFOLIO: You document your learning process for Module 2, choosing from at least two of the above formats. You will need to submit one 1,500-word essay on your critical reflection of your experiences with North American history and culture (museum tours, travel to North America, internship, cultural events, guest lectures, etc.); and one blog-style essay of about 1,000 words.  For both, please make sure to apply important concepts and ideas that you have encountered in your coursework.
