FAQs
Research budget
Full doctoral students of the MSAC receive a one-time and individual research budget of 1500 EUR from the MSAC for the period of their support by the MSAC. These funds can be used for expenses related to the research of the doctoral project. The money can be applied for using the corresponding forms on the homepage via email to msac@uni-muenster.de. Ideally, this should be done in advance of the measure. Following a successful application, doctoral researchers will receive an extra form for the settlement of accounts. This must be completed and submitted together with the original receipts at the end of the measure.
How can I apply for funds for events as a Fellow?
To do so, simply fill out the form "Application for funding of events by MSAC" and send it to msac@uni-muenster.de. At the next board meeting, the application will be reviewed and, in the best case, approved. You can find the form here.
What services do I have to provide when attending events of the Center for Digital Humanities, the Career Service, etc.?
As a rule, the events you attend already specify the requirements. It is possible to receive points for simple participation. If you take part in an examination, you will normally receive more points. In any case, have a certificate of attendance issued so that you can submit it to Matthias Sandberg (Managing Director). You can also contact him if you have any questions about the points.
When can I apply for the MSAC as a (future) doctoral candidate?
You can apply for the MSAC at any time. Please submit your complete application to Matthias Sandberg or Prof. Dr. Johannes Hahn. After the board has reviewed your application, you will receive feedback on whether you will be accepted into the MSAC.
How do I document my achievements? Where are they recorded?
You can provide proof of your achievements, e.g. by means of a confirmation from the persons organising the conference. If you are organising a conference yourself, the event poster etc. is sufficient. The services rendered are then entered in a student record book. If you have any questions, please contact Matthias Sandberg, Managing Director of MSAC.
You can find the form for registering your achievements here.
What documents do I need to submit when applying for the MSAC?
For an application you need an exposé of your doctoral project, a letter of motivation, an excerpt from an already written scientific paper of max. 10 pages and a detailed curriculum vitae. In addition, we require the certificate of the university degree entitling you to a doctorate and a supervision agreement with your first supervisor. If this is not yet available at the time of application, it can be submitted later if necessary. Further information can be found here.
Can I also become a member of the MSAC if I am not a doctoral student?
Yes, this is also possible. Simply fill out the membership application form, which you can find here.
By becoming a member of MSAC, you also agree to actively participate in the conception, organisation and provision of MSAC services, for example as a supervisor or lecturer.
Can I also participate in MSAC events if I am not a member?
This is certainly possible. As a rule, MSAC events are open to all interested parties. However, if there is only limited capacity, please bear with us if places are only allocated to MSAC Fellows and doctoral students from our cooperation partners.
