The research area „Artificial Intelligence and Data Science“ incorporates the five research groups „Data Science“, „Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis“, „Visualization & Graphics”, „Autonomous Intelligent Systems“, and “Artificial Intelligence”.


Our research focuses on the development of methods from Artificial Intelligence for data analysis and autonomous systems. It includes aspects on Machine Learning including Deep Learning, Data and Image Processing, Agent Theory, Pattern Recognition, and Interactive Visual Data Analysis.

In terms of teaching, we offer a broad range of courses in the fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Our portfolio consists of introductory courses as well as advanced lectures, seminars, and project seminars from our research area.
