General Terms and Conditions of Usage (Indico)
Updated: 11 Sep. 2024
1. User group
Indico is a service available exclusively to employees of the University of Münster and may only be used for purposes directly related to working at the University of Münster. Users are authorised to use Indico to create and manage events at the University of Münster in their respective facility or unit (e.g. department, institute, central unit, administrative department etc.). The participants of the events may include persons unaffiliated with the University.
2. Access
All employees of the University of Münster can access Indico via the link: https://indico.uni-muenster.de/. Employees can log into their Indico account using their University ID and corresponding password. To register for an event, the organiser posts a link to the corresponding event.
3. User obligations
In principle, users are obliged to comply with the general IT user regulations of the University of Münster (https://www.uni-muenster.de/IT/cit/ordnungen/benutzungsordnung.html), as well as the relevant statutory provisions.
Organisers are obliged to draft an additional data protection policy, disclosing the type and extent of personal data collected in connection to the event (i.e. for registration and conducting the event). The data protection policy must be made available to the participants at the time of registration.
Data protection policy templates are available on the intranet at: https://www.uni-muenster.de/intern/offiziell/datenschutzundsicherheit/
4. Protection of personal data
The organiser is responsible for safeguarding participants’ personal data collected while registering for an event or conference within the University of Münster. The organiser is obliged and personally responsible for deleting personal data that is no longer required.
5. Deletion of events
The CIT is authorised to delete events after a period of two years following the event in order to prevent the unlawful storage of personal data.
6. Restrictions on availability
Users are not entitled to the availability of the system. Usability may occasionally be restricted, in particular due to maintenance work. This usually takes place on Wednesdays between 6 am and 9 am.
7. Exclusion of liability
Claims for damages are excluded. This liability disclaimer also applies to the CIT’s legal representatives, agents and service providers should the user claim damages against them.
8. Severability clause
The University of Münster may impose additional rules or amend existing rules with one month’s notice without invalidating the current Terms and Conditions of Usage. Should any of the above provisions be invalid for legal, technical or operational reasons or require immediate amendment, the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected. Announcements of changes and publications will be made on the CIT website.
