February 24 marks the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. To commemorate this occasion, the Chair of Eastern Church Studies and Ecumenics has set up a special page called Focus on Ukraine. On this page we want to inform about our activities related to Ukraine and about information and support possibilities.

For the same reason, Prof. Dr. Regina Elsner spoke in the latest episode of the TheoPodcast, the podcast of the Faculty of Catholic Theology, about the situation of the churches and their influence in the war and considered how the churches can contribute to peace. The professor of Eastern Church Studies and Ecumenics, who was appointed in January, also presented her plans for the future and the academic network Ukrainian Studies in Münster (USiM), of which she and David Kulke are members since the beginning of the year.

The first major public event organized by USiM will take place on the anniversary itself, Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 7 p.m. in the Schloss aula. In a lecture by the Minister for European Affairs of the state of Northrhine-Westphalia and Head of the State Chancellery Nathanael Liminski and a subsequent panel discussion under the title "Die Ukraine und Europa" ("Ukraine and Europe"), the focus will be on the prospect of Ukraine's accession to the European Union. We cordially invite you to attend!
