Mathematik und Informatik

An algebraic variety cut out as a non-transverse intersection in an ambient variety admits a so-called virtual fundamental class which lives in the expected dimension. Virtual fundamental classes associated to certain moduli problems are used to construct Gromov-Witten invariants. In this talk we will explain how such classes can be constructed using motivic homotopy theory by working in the setting of derived algebraic geometry
