Herr Prof. Kenneth P. Camilleri (University of Malta) spricht über: EEG signal analysis and Medical Thermography at the University of Malta
Tuesday, 03.05.2016 14:00 im Raum M 5
This talk aims to introduce the biomedical signal and image processing work being carried out at the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory of the University of Malta.
This talk focuses on brain signal analysis algorithms recently developed at the Lab,
specifically the Switching Multiple Models, applied to sleep EEG analysis, and the Analytic Common Spatial Patterns, applied to brain-computer interfacing. The Switching Multiple Models algorithm models the EEG signal by a set of linear dynamic systems allowing a non-stationary EEG signal to be represented by a temporal sequence of models representing an EEG state. The Analytic Common Spatial Patterns generalises the well-known Common Spatial Patterns such that phase features are explicitly factored out from band power features.
The talk then presents ongoing work on a project that studies the effects of ischemia and neuropathy on the thermal patterns of the limbs as acquired using a thermal camera. We review the image acquisition protocol, the sites of interest and automated temperature extraction methods.
