  • The project

“Weißlich richt’ ich’s also ein, daß, wer lebt, mitspielend strebe…“

This project was founded during the summer semester 2018 by Christian Pfordt (former part of ecumenical institute, currently in Cambridge) and Patrick Bahl (seminar for Church History II) , as well as a small circle of theological-historical interested and theater-loving students of our faculty. Its goal is to deal with the ambivalent relationship between church and theater, apart from normal theological seminars. It also wants to present theologically relevant pieces of the times of reformation, the century of confessionalism and the Enlightenment and to look at them from a theological perspective and production.

Thereby, the close relationship between theater and theory follows the approach of protestant and Jesuit drama of the 16th and 17th century. We are confident: Where you are able to study theology, there must be theatre play.
