High Performance Computing (HPC)
Within the framework of high performance computing, the creation and calculation of scientific simulations is carried out. From problems from elementary particle theory to medical and socio-economic areas, a wide variety of systems can be simulated. What they all have in common is the high demand for computing power and main memory, which cannot usually be served on workstations. HPC clusters, on which the simulations are performed, are characterized by the fact that calculations cannot be started interactively by the user, but have to be classified into a batch system, which takes care of the processing of the calculations of different users.
