Chemical Targeting Lab (Dr. Andreas Faust)
In our chemical and radiochemical laboratories, we develop new tracers for diagnostic molecular imaging using positron emission tomography (PET), single-photon emission tomography (SPECT), optical and photoacoustic imaging. On the one hand, we focus on specific ligands for the alarmins S100A8/S100A9; on the other hand, we work on bacteria-specific tracers based on complex carbohydrates or siderophores. Various short-lived nuclides such as the positron emitter fluorine-18 or the gamma emitter technetium-99m are used. In our workgroup we also develop absorbers for improved photoacoustic imaging.
