Nanoparticles are promising carriers for intracellular delivery and contrast agents for molecular imaging. The key challenge for biomedical application of nanoparticles is their functionalization with suitable targeting units that direct the nanoparticles to a tissue of interest. In this project we will investigate new approaches to prepare tailor-made biofunctional nanoparticles using molecular self-assembly.
