Research projects and career opportunities in the field of biomedical imaging and inflammation
Monday, February 10, 2025, 14:00-16:00
Multiscale Imaging Centre at the University of Münster
Röntgenstr. 16
Are you looking for a doctoral position or a research project, for example for your Master's or Bachelor's thesis? The Collaborative Research Centre 1450 inSight offers exciting opportunities at the interface between the natural sciences and medicine. We invite all students interested in research to meet and get to know us in an informal atmosphere!
- 14:00 (Auditorium)
Intro in German – individual conversations are of course possible in English

Our project leaders and the junior scientists involved into our network will be happy to present their research projects to you and to answer your individual questions.
In the Collaborative Research Centre inSight, we investigate how the body regulates inflammation in different organs and, to this end, develop a specific multisale imaging methodology that brings together information from single cells to entire organisms.
In particular, the following projects are looking for interested junior scientists who would like to do their doctorate as part of an interdisciplinary team:
- A01 Cell-type specific multiscale imaging of leukocytes through the combination of protein tagging and radiochemical labelling
Contact person: Dr. rer. nat. Paul Konken, European Institute for Molecular Imaging - A04 Metabolic targeting of bacteria through complex carbohydrates and siderophores
Contact person: Dr. rer. nat. Silke Niemann, Institut für Medizinische Mikrobiologie - B06 Dynamic PET-MRI for integrated quantification of molecular immune responses and their vascular consequences (zwei PhD Stellen)
Contact persons: Priv.-Doz. Dr. rer. medic. Florian Büther, European Institute for Molecular Imaging und Prof. Dr. med. Philipp Backhaus, Klinik für Nuklearmedizin - C01 Metabolic priming of monocytes during inflammation in vivo
Contact person: Prof. Dr. Michael Schäfers, European Institute for Molecular Imaging - C03 Targeting S100A8/S100A9 induced MDSCs in inflammatory disorders
Contact person: Dr. Sven Hermann, European Institute for Molecular Imaging - C05 The role of CSK in the regulation of immune cell recruitment and metabolism during acute kidney injury
Contact person: Dr. Andreas Margraf, Klinik für Anästhesiologie, operative Intensivmedizin und Schmerztherapie
(Link for current job advertisement)
Following projects are looking for motivated postdoctoral researchers:
- B05 – Mechanisms and visualisation of kidney injury-associated immunomodulatory responses affecting susceptibility to bacteria-induced pulmonary infection
Contact person: Dr. rer. nat. Helena Block, Klinik für Anästhesiologie, operative Intensivmedizin und Schmerztherapie
We are happy to answer your questions at any time – please feel free to contact us!
