Münster Centre for Emerging Researchers (CERes) Event Participation Terms & Conditions

These Participation Terms & Conditions apply only to events that are hosted by Münster Centre for Emerging Researchers (CERes).

  • Target group

Events at Münster Centre for Emerging Researchers (CERes) are generally open to all doctoral and postdoctoral researchers that conduct research at the University of Münster:

    • Doctoral researchers that pursue a doctoral degree at the University of Münster, regardless of their enrolment status,
    • Visiting doctoral researchers that carry out research work,
    • Postdocs.
  • Registration

Most events require advance and binding registration using the in-house Professional Training Programme tool or the Indico registration tool. Registrations are usually open until seven days before the event begins. Please refer to individual events for information about registration and to learn about the registration window.

Registrations using the Professional Training Programme tool: You must register by logging in with your User ID and password, then clicking the “Book course” button on the corresponding event page. You will then receive an automatic email confirming your registration.

Registrations using Indico: You will receive an automatic email upon registration, stating that your registration awaits our manual approval. Your place is only secured once we have approved your registration, in which case you receive an automatic participation confirmation. Registrations are approved in the order that people registered.

  • Waiting list

You can register for events even when the number of registrations has already reached or exceeded the number of available places.

Waiting list in the Professional Training Programme tool: If your desired event is fully booked, you can add your name to the waiting list online. As spaces become available, participants are automatically registered for the event in the order in which they were added to the waiting list.

Waiting list in Indico: Your registration awaits our manual approval, which corresponds to being placed on a waiting list. If a place becomes available for you, we will approve your registration and inform you immediately. Registrations are approved in the order that people registered.

If places become available within 72 hours prior to an event, we contact several registrants in the order that they registered and allocate places on a “first come, first served” basis. Please keep the scheduled date of your desired event free in case someone cancels.

  • Cancellation

Our facilitators invest great effort in ensuring that events are prepared and delivered in a participant-oriented manner. There is also a great demand for our events and the waiting lists are long. Please register only for those events that you can really attend. If something prevents you from attending, please cancel your registration as soon as possible, no later than 72 hours before the beginning of the event, to allow someone else on the waiting list to take your place.

Cancellations using the Professional Training Programme tool: You can cancel your registration by clicking “Cancel registration” under My Courses.

Cancellations using Indico: You can withdraw your registration by following the hint in the automatic email: “To manage your registration follow this link: Manage my registration.”

  • Attendance

Participants are obliged to be present throughout the entire event. If you cannot attend the entire event, please let us know at least three working days before the beginning of the event at ceres.events@uni-muenster.de. CERes will examine on a case-by-case basis if partial attendance is possible, taking factors such as organisation of the event, contents and group dynamics into account. Exceptions are of course compelling reasons such as illnesses: Please send us a short note on the day of the event at the latest at ceres.events@uni-muenster.de.

  • Event materials

Event materials that participants receive throughout the course of the event are for the participants’ personal use only and may not be reproduced, distributed to third parties or used in any other way that goes beyond the participants’ own learning.

  • Certificates of attendance

You can receive a certificate of attendance for events at CERes. A prerequisite for obtaining the certificate is full and successful attendance, coming prepared and being present throughout the entire event. You can find your certificate of attendance under My Courses. Please note that it may take a few days for your certificate to become available in the Professional Training Programme portal. You can download, save or print out the certificate from the portal for up to 10 years.

If you would like to add the certificate to your personnel file, please send a copy to your respective personnel department (Depts. 3.1, 3.3, 3.4).
