Job Opportunities in Pharma and Biotech

Description:

Natural science graduates can potentially work in a variety of different jobs. The pharma and biotech industries constantly seek natural scientists, who are offered attractive working conditions in these industries. However, unless for example medical school, academic education in the natural sciences is more abstract and does not directly lead to a defined job profile. Hence, transition from academia to industry may be difficult and time-consuming for natural science graduates. This workshop is specifically designed to give an overview over realistic job opportunities for natural science students and graduates. We will discuss what is expected in therespective job and what graduates can expect from future employers, also in terms of benefits and salaries. In particular, we will have a look at job opportunities outside of classical research & development positions. We will not only go through the daily tasks of each position with real-life examples, but we will also learn what is needed to transition into industry. Finally, we will have a look at current job offers and I will guide theparticipants through the secret code of job descriptions, which will allow them to identify interesting and promising job offers. This workshop is based on many practical interactive examples and discussions. Overall, participants will profit from first-hand insights to make their transition from academiato the pharma or biotech industries as smooth as possible.
