Nikolaus was here!

He made it! In spite of travel restrictions in Corona times, Nikolaus visited us as he does each year, to say his thanks for our efforts and successes of the past year. We believe that he must have been happy also to see how careful and considerate we behaved during the pandemic which still is active all around the world. 2020 has been a difficult year but overall, we cannot complain. Of course, we had severe restrictions some of the time and had to work from home or in shifts, but the labs have never been closed completely, unlike the labs of many of our colleagues and friends in many countries. With 32 Nikoläusen this year, our numbers have barely dropped and they appear to even rather increase again a little again next year, but with more Master students, less doctoral candidates, and less post-doctoral researchers than before. Still, it looks like we will have almost as many papers as last year, with on average similar impact factors. But the year is not over yet, and a few revisions are still out there. We will see...
