Dr. Till Ischebeck now is Prof. Till Ischebeck at our Institute for Biology and Biotechnology of Plants
Today, Prof. Dr. Till Ischebeck started his Heisenberg professorship at our institute. He had been offered the Assistant Professorship in Plant Biotechnology with tenure track for the succession to Prof. Bruno Moerschbacher who will retire in 2025. But during the negotiation phase, he received one of the prestigious Heisenberg professorships of the German Research Council DFG so that he is now already Full Professor. Upon positive evaluation in a few years, he will become a permanent professor at our institute. Till had convinced the selection committee by his excellent track record of fundamental research in the area of plant lipids combined with his convincing plans e.g. for biotechnological applications of lipid droplets as subcellular factories for the production of lipophilic compounds. He perfectly complements the research areas of our institute which now covers the genetics, biochemistry, physiology, and cell biology of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and secondary plant metabolites as well as their biotechnological production, optimisation, and utilisation. It will become a bit more crowded in our building, but it will lead to an even more diverse offer of study modules and research topics. Already this winter term, he will share teaching responsibilities for Bachelor and Master students with Prof. Moerschbacher, and the first undergraduate students can start their Projekt Module and Bachelor Thesis in his group. Welcome Till – und auf gute Zusammenarbeit!
