EUCHIS newsletter No. 45 appeared
Today, the 45th Newsletter of the European Chitin Society - EUCHIS has appeared, edited by EUCHIS Secretary Prof. em. Martin Peter. It contains important information about the forthcoming 14th EUCHIS conference which will be organised in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Russian Chitin Society in Kazan, from September 06 to 10, 2020. The newsletter also includes the calls for Braconnot Prize nominations and applications for travel awards to join the conference. It also includes an agreement which EUCHIS recently signed with the MDMI open access ‘International Journal of Molecular Sciences’ that will grant EUCHIS members preferential rates (15% discount) when publishing in IJMS. Prof. Peter also compiled an impressive list of new books on chitin and chitosan which were recently published or announced: ‘Oligosaccharides of Chitin and Chitosan: Bio-Manufacture and Applications’ (Springer, Singapore), ‘Targeting Chitin-Containing Organisms’ (Springer, Singapore), ‘Chitin and Chitosan: History, Fundamentals and Innovations’ (Sustainable Agriculture Reviews Vol. 35 and 36). ‘Starch, Chitin and Chitosan Based Composites and Nanocomposites’ (Springer, Singapore), and ‘Chitin and Chitosan: Properties and Applications’ (Wiley, Hoboken). Our group has contributed Chapter 4 on “New developments in the analysis of partially acetylated chitosan polymers and oligomers” to this last book. The Newsletter also announces another Special Issue on "Chitosan for the Future" in the journal ‘Reactive and Functional Polymers’, dedicated to the memory of Kjell M. Vårum and George A.F. Roberts that is due to appear in spring 2020.
