Welcome Elisabeth Seiband, our new research technician in the funCHI project
Earlier this month, Elisabeth Seiband joined us as our new research technician in the funCHI project, and today, she - and our Bachis of this year - invited us for cookies and sparkling wine. The position had been open since Claudia Lüneberg had left us for a permanent position in Prof. Hippler’s group. So a lot of work is waiting for Elisabeth for the last few months of the project. In particular, Elisabeth will support Anna and Jasper in the cell wall analysis of our fungal strains and mutants. We need to know their monosaccharide composition, with a focus on the chitin content. We are confident that we can extend our enzymatic / mass spectrometric fingerprinting analyses, which Anna and Jasper have developed for partially acetylated chitosans, to chitin-containing fungal cell walls. And we are also confident that Elisabeth with her fresh knowledge and enthusiasm will be a big help. Following her “Abitur” in 2014, Elisabeth had gone for vocational training as a “Chemielaborantin” at Roche Diagnostics in Penzberg, which she successfully finished this summer. Penzberg is situated about 50 km South of Munich, in the foothills of the Alps. But luckily, Eisabeth decided to leave the mountains and to join us in flat Münster. We are welcoming you, Elisabeth, and we hope and trust you will like it here, too.
