BrasiliDAAD: A video on Youtube by Dr. Roberta Paulert, our doctoral alumna who is now Professor of Biotechnology at Federal University of Paraná in Palotina, Brazil
Recently, our doctoral alumna Roberta Paulert informed us about a video she had produced – together with other DAAD alumni - for the German Academic Exchange Council DAAD, reporting on her experience as a DAAD doctoral fellow in our lab. It is in Portuguese, but it has German subtitles. Roberta did her PhD with us, successfully defending her thesis in 2010. She went back to Brazil where she became Professor of Biotechnology at the Palotina campus of the University of Paraná, in the South of her country, close to the border to Paraguay, not far from the famous Iguacu falls. She had brought ulvan, a polysaccharide from green algae, from Brazil to study its plant strengthening activities. We still continue to work on this subject, and we still collaborate with Roberta. She also visited us again last year when she was almost stuck in Germany due to the Corona pandemics. Fortunately, she succeeded in catching one of the last flights back home. Since then, we have been working on several joint publications – one good consequence of Corona being the ease with which we are now connecting with colleagues and friends around the globe via video conferences. Roberta, we are happy and proud to hear you talk about your time in Germany – it has been as much a positive experience for us as it apparently was for you!
