17th Summer Course Glycosciences, Wageningen, the Netherlands
This year, Prof. Bruno Moerschbacher was invited as a guest lecturer at the 17th Summer Course Glycosciences, held 11 - 15 June 2023, in Wageningen, the Netherlands. This is a very well established course for graduate students which the Graduate School VLAG of the University of Wageningen has been organising successfully for many years. It is an excellent format in which Master students as well as doctoral and post-doctoral researchers from all over Europe, mostly from universities, but also from industry, participate. An ideal opportunity for networking and, potentially, scouting for an employer or an employee. And each year, the organisers invite a small number of well-established glyco-scientists to explain the basics of glycol-chemistry, glycol-biology, and glycol-biotechnology and to give insights into their current research. This year, Bruno was one of them, of course reporting on “Chitins and chitosans – structures and functions, analysis and uses”. His seminar was very well received and sparked an interesting discussion out of which new opportunities for collaborations arose. Just as intended. Over the years, many of our own students and young researchers have participated in this summer school, and they always came back full of praise and good ideas. Just as intended. A perfect win-win-win… situation.
