“Goldener Hans” for Prof. Bruno Moerschbacher: The students of Biology awarded their biannual Teaching Award during this year’s Summer Party

Today, Bruno Moerschbacher was awarded the Best Teacher Award “Goldener Hans”. Since 1991, this award has been given about every other year by the students of the Faculty of Biology to one of their professors. It is, of course, a highly cherished award - and Bruno received it already for the third time, after 2003 and 2017. This is a very special honour, making him very proud. In fact, it also comes at the last opportunity given that he will retire next summer. It will then be thirty years that he has been teaching Biochemistry in Münster, since twenty years in form of the Lecture “Fundamentals of Biology: Biomolecules” to generations of students during their first weeks at University. Receiving the Goldener Hans had been an incentive first, and then a challenge: to do well, and then to do even better. To convey like a mantra that “Elektronen sind wichtig”. But more importantly, that each and every student, in each and every year, is important in her or his own way. As Bruno’s grandmother used to say: “Il faut toute sorte de gens pour construire un monde.” Each and every one is important to build this world. And in these times of multiple crises, even more important: to save this world. A huge thank you to all the students - past, present, and future - for their contributions to this world!
