Tagung "Claiming the Land from Antiquity to Modern Times"

Die internationale Konferenz "Landnahme von der Antike bis zur Neuzeit" findet am 21. und 22. April 2023 an der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster statt und wird von der Münster School of Ancient Cultures organisiert. Die Konferenz konzentriert sich auf die soziopolitischen sowie kulturellen Aspekte von Landansprüchen und stützt sich dabei auf drei Hauptpfeiler: Materialität, Erinnerung und Identität. Durch die Einnahme multidisziplinärer Perspektiven werden Landnahmen diachron betrachtet. Der geographische Rahmen der Konferenz umfasst den europäischen und nahöstlichen Raum, während der zeitliche Rahmen von der Vorgeschichte bis zur Neuzeit reicht.

The international conference ‘Claiming the Land from Antiquity to Modern Times’ will take place on 21 and 22 April 2023 at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster. It is organised by the Münster School of Ancient Cultures. The conference focuses on the socio-political and cultural aspects of land claims by resting on three main pillars: materiality, memory, and identity. By adopting a multidisciplinary perspective, we aim to follow diachronic claiming practices. The geographical scope of the conference includes the European and Near Eastern contexts, while the periodisation ranges from prehistory to modern times.
