"Experience abroad – especially foreign language skills – are very important "

Interview with Ramona Kremer, employee at Vectron

Münster University sees itself not only as being rooted in the local region, but also as having an international orientation – in teaching, in research, among students and among its administrative staff. Using reports, background information, portraits, facts and interviews, we will be showing just how wide-ranging the issue is.

On the basis of discussions with students, we know that they often wonder whether, and to what extent, international experience is an advantage for their later careers. In this series of interviews, personnel managers from various companies located in the Münsterland provide answers to these questions.

The last part of our series features Ramona Kremer, employee at the department personnel & organisation at Vectron, a company which produces POS systems:

What are the three most important criteria for your company when it selects new staff?

The prospective employee has to fit in at Vectron, and intuition certainly plays a role. After all, it’s not only us deciding on a certain employee – he or she should also consciously decide they want to join us.

What status does internationality have in your company as regards your staff, your business and your corporate culture?

As we are an international company, experience abroad – especially foreign language skills – are very important for us. How these skills are acquired is of secondary importance. In future, internationality will play an even bigger role because we are convinced that the working environment will become more international in many companies because of the lack of skilled workers. However, I don’t think that in future international experience will play an ever bigger role than today when we select our staff

In what other ways can young graduates score with you?

By gaining their first practical experience in the world of work – for example, through work placements, student jobs or something similar.
