University of Münster welcomes international students

During the Welcome Week, the International Office will be informing newcomers about studying and living in Münster

The University of Münster is welcoming 293 new exchange students at the beginning of the winter semester 2024/25. At the event welcoming them on September 16, the students from Münster’s numerous partner universities were provided with information by the International Office about Münster University and life in the city. There will be further events held in the coming days for students to orient themselves and get to know one another, for example a boat trip on the MS Günther and a city rally providing an opportunity to get to know more about Münster. Many of the exchange students come from Spain, Italy and France, although there are also newcomers from non-European countries, including Brazil, China or India. Of the exchange students, 225 are taking part in the European Union’s Erasmus Programme.

In addition to the exchange students, more than 200 international degree-seeking students will be starting at the University in the winter semester. The enrolment process is not yet complete. These students will be doing their complete bachelor’s or master’s course in Münster or studying to take a state examination. The International Office will be welcoming them, too, on September 25 and 26, preparing them for their studies by means of various information and orientation events. A total of 160 students from higher semesters have registered to take part in the Buddy Programme, and they will be offering support to the new international students in their first weeks, as well as giving them useful information and tips.
