PRODATPHIL – Science and Logic: a Programmable Data Collection and a Digital Survey of Logic and Philosophy of Science in the 19th and Early 20th Century

The project aims to create a digital survey of logic and philosophy of  science in German, English, and French between approximately 1820 and 1930. While existing digital analyses examine philosophy of science starting in the 1930s, this project focuses on the interdependencies between logic and philosophy of science primarily in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Its foundation is a data collection of approx. 2000 texts in various formats that are to be analyzed using corpus linguistic methods and other tools of the digital humanities. The project aims to create benefits for both the history of philosophy and the digital humanities:  we will investigate the canon of thinkers relevant to authors in the period under investigation and core terms of both disciplines in their historical development. At the same time, we will evaluate digital  research methods for their viability in the context of digital philosophy, especially in multilingual contexts.
