An intensive outreach and planning phase during the harvesting months has borne fruit – the TRANS SUSTAIN team is happy to announce that data collection has commenced in the third country of the study, Costa Rica. A team of dedicated local agronomists is currently implementing the survey in the two Costa Rican coffee regions, working with farmers from five different cooperatives. The team and our partner organizations look forward to the results that will yield novel insights – both regarding the advances Costa Rican coffee farmers have made regarding sustainable production practices, social and labor conditions, as well as the cost-benefit analysis of entering certified supply chains. First results are expected toward the autumn of 2017.
