Congratulations to Carsten Schuck, a project leader in the collaborative research centre 1459, member of the supervisory board of the Münster Nanofabrication Facility, as well as member of the Center for NanoTechnology, and the Center for Soft Nanoscience, as he was recently appointed W3 professor for Experimental Physics after holding a junior professorship at the Institute of Physics. In his new position, he is also the founding member of a new established "Department for Quantum Technology", which seeks to recruit several new professors in the near future.
In the CRC1459, he is leading research efforts of project C05 together with Jun-Prof Benjamin Risse.

In a perspective published in the latest issue of the “Nature” journal, Corinna Kaspar, Bart Jan Ravoo, Wilfred G. van der Wiel, Seraphine Wegener und Wolfram Pernice from the Universities of Münster and Twente – representing the SFB 1459 – describe the opportunities which could present themselves through intelligent matter. In a guest article for University of Münster, Corinna Kaspar (PhD student in Physics and first author of the “Nature” article) and physicist Prof. Dr. Wolfram Pernice provide insights into their research and its significance on this occasion.
