Münster is well reachable by air, rail and car.

By car:
There is a paid parking lot "Schlossplatz Süd" between Münster castle and the street Schlossplatz (B 54), entrance from Gerichtsstraße, open from 7:00 to 21:00, charge € 0,60 per 30 min., € 12,00 per day.
A free parking lot, open all days 24 hours, can be found at Orléans-Ring 12 near the University's seminar center. From there you can have a 15 min. walk to the castle, partly through the castle's park, or take a bus 11, 12, 13 or 22 from "P+R Coesfelder Kreuz" to "Landgericht".
The free parking garage at Coesfelder Kreuz, Domagkstr. 61, is open Monday - Friday from 6:00 to 22:00. From there you can have a 15 min. walk to the castle, partly through the castle's park, or take a bus 11, 12, 13 or 22 from "P+R Coesfelder Kreuz" to "Landgericht".
By plane:
The biggest airports in the area are Düsseldorf and Cologne-Bonn, hosting regular airline's as well as regional and low-cost carrier's flights.
- Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS). Connections to all major cities in Europe and overseas. Direct trains to Münster leave every hour (travel time 1h 40 min), connections with one change leave more frequently. For exact schedule, please check the Deutsche Bahn webpage.
- Cologne-Bonn International Airport (CGN). Connections to many cities mostly in Europe. Frequent train connections to Münster (travel time ca. 2h). For exact schedule, please check the Deutsche Bahn webpage.
Additionally, there are two smaller airports in the area, with limited number of budget airline flights to selected destinations:
- Münster-Osnabrück International Airport (FMO). Flights on daily-basis to Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart and Zürich. Transfer time to the city by bus: ca. 35-45 mins depending on the bus line, buses leave every half an hour, see schedule.
- Dortmund International Airport (DTM). Budget airline flights to some cities in Germany and Europe (London Luton and Stansted among them). For Münster castle go with bus 11, 12, 13 or 22 from Münster main station to bus stop "Landgericht", or with bus 1 or 9 from Münster main station to bus stop "Schlossplatz".
