Japanese Research Stipend for PhD Student from the ITP
Thanks to the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), ITP member Tobias Wand was able to stay as a visiting researcher at the Rissho University in Kumagaya in Japan. Wand is PhD student of the working group on „Self-Organization and Complexity” and his research in Münster is focused on applying tools of theoretical physics to socio-economic data. Under the supervision of Prof. Hiroshi Iyetomi, Wand participated from June to August in the JSPS Summer Program at the Faculty of Data Science in Kumagaya. He used the Helmholtz decomposition developed for electric fields to analyse financial market data and to identify the causal hierarchy within the market. The results are published in Entropy 2024, 26(10), 858.
