Measurement of self organised dissipative solitons with particle properties

In nature we are confronted with an overwhelming richness of patterns. Having a closer look on these phenomena one recognizes that the overwhelming part of these patterns is far away from themodynamical equilibirum. The investigation and the understanding of such structures is one of the most challenging unsolved problems in modern natural sciences. The present lecture is devoted to this problem.

The lecture deals with nonlinear spatially extended dissipative systems. Focus of attention of this lecture is the formation of self-organized structures, their attractors and basins of attraction, the bifurcation behaviour as well as possible applications. Special emphasis will be put on experimentally investigated systems and their modelling.
