“Slovenian Academy of Engineering” Elected Prof. Dr Martin Winter as a Corresponding Member

For his outstanding achievements in research, the “Slovenian Academy of Engineering” (IAS) has elected Prof. Dr Martin Winter, founder and scientific director of MEET Battery Research Center of the University of Münster and the Helmholtz Institute Münster, a branch of Forschungszentrum Jülich, as a foreign corresponding member.

Founded in 1995, the platform connects the production industry and the engineering sector with scientific and technological research institutions to jointly promote technological progress and economic growth in Slovenia.

Intensive Research for a Growing Economy

“The close cooperation between scientists and engineers is essential. In particular, applied an engineering sciences are known to transfer research results into industrial application and thus developing innovative and competitive technologies and products”, says Prof. Dr Martin Winter. “Therefore, it is an honour for me to support the IAS as corresponding member.” The chemist has been researching in the field of electrochemical energy storage and energy conversion for 30 years. His focus is on the development of new materials, components and cell designs for lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries as well as alternative battery systems.

The battery researcher is now sharing his expertise with the IAS which cooperates with engineering academies from 23 European countries. To further expand its competences, the IAS annually elects new national and international members from the fields of science and research as well as business and development who have demonstrated exceptional work and expertise.
