This seminar explores the complex relationships between climate change adaptation and rural development in Latin America, focusing on how rural communities, agriculture, and ecosystems are affected. It emphasizes community strategies that reduce vulnerability and increase resilience, particularly through strengthening human and social resources. By improving access to natural and physical resources, rural populations can better utilize them and enhance their economic opportunities.
The seminar also explores the role of Nature-based Solutions, such as ecosystem restoration and sustainable land management, in addressing rural areas' social, economic, and environmental challenges. Key topics include the impact of climate change on food security, water resources, biodiversity, and rural livelihoods, alongside the role of rural inhabitants in decision-making and sustainable resource management. Through case studies, students will explore successful adaptation practices, highlighting their role in promoting equitable and sustainable rural development.
