'Comparing european media systems' provides an insight into the theory and methodology of the research on media systems and conveys information about media system conceptions, institutions/actors, the information provided by and the use of public communication media in Europe.
This overview is supplemented by an in-depth analysis of linear and non-linear media programmes in Austria, Switzerland and Germany (‘ACHD-region’). In addition, we will examine the consequences of the establishment of media intermediaries and media platforms and discuss how the system of public media should be organized in the future in order to optimally fulfill its function for democracy and the communicative needs of people as citizens.
