This
course addresses all students in the Master Programme “Economics”.
There
is a class to work on exercises and to consolidate the material. The class
teachers are Verena Monschang and Björn Schulte-Tillmann. The classes will be held via ZOOM.
The
main objective of the course is to make students familiar with the most
relevant techniques used in empirical economics. The course aims at demonstrating
of how to apply econometric techniques sensibly to real-world data sets.
Prerequisite
of “Empirical Methods” are the bachelor modules “Statistics I” (descriptive
methods), “Statistics II” (probability calculus, estimation, hypothesis
testing) and “Advanced Statistics” (random vectors, asymptotic concepts). The
slides of my previous lectures on these modules are downloadable from this
web-site (see below).
All
aspects treated in the course “Empirical Methods” as well as in the class are
relevant to the exam at the end of the term.
The
course language is English. Slides are available only in English.
Important note:
Owing to COVID-19, personal audience is currently not admitted. Starting
on 2 November 2020 at 14.00, the lecture will be transmitted via
live-stream in LearnWeb. Approximately 1 week after the live-session, the
recording of each session will be available in Learnweb.
