The course focusses on the analysis of panel data that is necessary to conduct empirical research in management contexts. Specifically, the students will link top management team information with firm characteristics utilizing and matching data for research (e.g., corporate and venture data in the field of corporate entrepreneurship). Additionally, the students will evaluate managerial discretion and environmental contingencies with moderated models. The students will learn to perform descriptive and univariate analyses via regressions. Additionally, the students will be able to work with fixed-effects models and standard error clustering. They will be able to prepare data and present their result graphically (according to standards in latest management publications). The students will be supported with latest scientific literature around the topic. Since the data is widely used in recent management literature the primarily targets are doctoral students working in the fields of strategic management, organization science, or entrepreneurship.
