The course introduces into the philosophical foundations of normative analyses of ecnomic relations and institutions. The first part covers the basic terminology as well as the most important accounts of moral philosophy, and the special characteristics of 'economic' ethics. The second part presents major positions in contemporary political philosophy that address justifications of different modes of economic organisation and distributive principles. The third part turns to specific problems of individual economic action as they would be discussed in classical business ethics.
This lecture will be held as a block course in January. There will be an introductury lecture with a reading list and additional organisational information on November 6. Participants of the course are strongly recommended to take part in this introductory session, and to read the supporting literature by January. The slides to the lecture will be uploaded shortly before the course. The third part of the course on January 22 consists in a q&a session preparing for the final exam.
