Ecology and Evolution of Intraspecific Chemodiversity in Plants

In the DFG-funded Research Unit, scientists from eight German institutions combine field and laboratory studies with metabolomics, transcriptomics, genetic tools, statistical data analysis and modelling to understand causes and consequences of plant chemodiversity regarding the interaction of plants with their biotic environment. The initiative exists since 2020 and aims to identify general principles, which hold across different species, and to develop meaningful measures for characterising the diversity of defence chemicals in plants.
