The Abyss

I stare into the drifting darkness
Dragging you out,
Towards the edge of the chasm -
Wind-blown hair,
And a luminous radiance
Hangs over you.
Your lips move,
But though I strain,
Your words fall into silence.
You reach out,
I reach out,
But death is too wide, Daddy
And you fade back....
