Words for Samuel Beckett

I read on.
Understanding less.
Yet I could not leave you.
Each word brought
Me to the next.

Then days of brooding.
Of difficulty.
Until little by little
I saw the word complete.
Felt as my own heartbeat.

I read on.
The same problem.
But always the word
Keeping me in touch.

Out of such ignorance
I learned much.
