Seminar on the Yamabe Problem, WiSe2024/25

The Yamabe problem in an important result in scalar curvature geometry. The problem states that any metric on a closed manifold is conformal equivalent to a constant scalar curvature metric. What is perhaps surprising, is that the proof uses different areas of mathematics, including the positive mass theorem, which itself have many far-reaching applications in physics and in mathematics. 

This seminar will survey selected topics about the Yamabe problem based on the interests of participants.

Our first organisational meeting will be on Tuesday, 24.10.2024, at 12:00 sharp, immediately before Differential Geometry II in M4. We will discuss possible topics and allocate talks during that meeting.
