Seminar on the Yamabe Problem, WiSe2024/25
Notice: We are currently organising a session sometime between the 8th and the 15th (inclusive) of November to go over the necessarily geometric and analytical foundations. We will then discuss and allocate the talks afterwards, so if you're interested in attending, please send an email giving me your availability.
The Yamabe problem in an important result in scalar curvature geometry. The problem states that any metric on a closed manifold is conformal equivalent to a constant scalar curvature metric. What is perhaps surprising, is that the proof uses different areas of mathematics, including the positive mass theorem, which itself have many far-reaching applications in physics and in mathematics.
This seminar will survey selected topics about the Yamabe problem based on the interests of participants.
If you are interested in attending, giving a talk, or if you have any questions, please direct your inquiries to the following email:
This webpage will be updated with more information as the seminar progresses.
