Title: Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Model Polymer Electrolytes

Abstract of Research Project

Polymer electrolytes are ionically conducting solvent free materials usually composed of alkali salts dissolved in a polymer matrix. Owing to their good mechanical stability, ease of fabrication and low flammability, they are good alternative electrolytes for use in secondary lithium batteries. Chief disadvantage, however, is the low ionic conductivity at ambient temperatures. My work focuses on primarily to elucidating ion transport processes within these materials by means of simulations.
