Abstract of Research Project

D-glucosamine trimethylenedithioacetal, easily prepared from D-glucosamine, is a new, versatile and cheap starting material to many interesting compounds in glycoscience, such as imino sugars, amino glycosides or N-containing carbasugars. In this work, the synthetic versatility of D-glucosamine trimethylenedithioacetal will be demonstrated by synthesis of some interesting biologically important carbohydrate mimics from this substance.
