PhD Project: Determining the interaction partners of Myb family transcription factors

Abstract of Research Project

Transcription factors play an important role in many important biological processes. Deregulation of these factors lead to many diseases such as cancer. The Myb proteins constitute an important family of transcription factors which help to control alternating cellular fates such as proliferation, differentiation or apoptosis. Regulation of expression of eukaryotic genes involves cooperation of specific transcription factors with multiple interacting proteins. To understand transcriptional regulation it is therefore necessary to also study these interactions. In this project, we are interested to identify in the interacting partners of the Myb transcription factor and to study they help in the regulation of expression of Myb target genes.
