PhD Project: Mechanistic Studies and Applications of S_RN1 Reaction

Abstract of Research Project

Our research group has recently introduced a novel and efficient polymerization method for the synthesis of oligoarenes. This reaction is proposed to proceed via the S_RN1 pathway and through the unprecedented alteration of radicals and radical anions. Currently, we are engaged in mechanistic studies of this polymerization reaction. My PhD research work focuses on the exploration of mechanistic details and scope of this polymerization method beyond oligoarenes. Moreover, we will also develop synthetic methodologies for C-C/C-X bond formation using S_RN1 reactions.
