Why are there so many religious traditions in the world? Why is there such a diversity of astonishing truths and insights? Global religions resemble each other within their differences. By studying a different religious tradition, you can experience how different kinds of light will fall on certain elements of your own tradition. How can we illuminate each other, for the benefit of the whole of humanity?

Perry Schmidt-Leukel: Interreligious Theology

No peace among the nations without peace among the religions: Religious scholar and theologian Perry Schmidt-Leukel explores what the world's major religions think of each other and how they explain the fact that there are more religious traditions than their own. Never before has humanity been as aware as it is today of how many religions there are. Therein lies a significant potential for conflict, says the religious studies scholar in a new episode of the video series "Research Projects in Focus." Accordingly, there is a strong potential for peace, if religions and theologies succeed in reciprocal rapprochement. The film provides an insight into the research project "Interreligious Theology at the Cluster of Excellence "Religion and Politics" at the University of Münster.
