Die enorme potenzielle Bedeutung der pragmatistischen Praxisphilosophie für die Pastoraltheologie

Abstract

Der folgende Beitrag will die enormen Chancen plausibel machen, die in einer konsistenten Rezeption der pragmatistischen Praxisphilosophie innerhalb der Pastoraltheologie liegen. Dazu werden zunächst zentrale handlungstheoretische Entscheidungen des Pragmatismus vorgestellt. Anschließend erfolgt die Identifikation von fünf Gründen, warum gerade dieses Theorieangebot reiche pastoraltheologische Kontraste und Gewinne verspricht. Die biografische Dynamik, die mich zum Pragmatismus geführt hat, liegt in der Co-Leitung des deutsch-amerikanischen Exposure-Projektes ‚Crossing Over‘ (vgl. Sellmann 2011a). Die dort gemachten pastoralen Erfahrungen haben eine „inquiry“ (Dewey 2002; Langner-Pitschmann 2018, 20f) in Gang gesetzt, die mich bis zur Gründung eines Forschungszentrums auf dezidiert pragmatistischer Grundlage geführt hat (vgl. Sellmann 2011b; 2015; 2022).

The following contribution shows the enormous chances of a consistent reception of the pragmatist philosophy of praxis within pastoral theology. To this end, central decisions of pragmatism in terms of action theory are presendet. This is followed by five reasons, why this theory in particular offers rich pastoral theological benefits. The biographical dynamics which led me to pragmatism is the coleadership of the German-American Exposure Project 'Crossing Over' (cf. 'Crossing Over' (cf. Sellmann 2011a). The pastoral experiences set in motion an "inquiry" (Dewey 2002) which has led me to found a research centre on a decidedly pragmatist basis (cf. Sellmann 2011b; 2015; 2022).
